When we began this journey of sharing our story, we didn’t just want to plant seeds in the soil—we wanted to plant something that would last. Something with meaning. Something with heart.

That’s how Heartstead Farms got its name.

A name rooted in faith, purpose, and a love for what grows.

Heart

The word heart means courage, love, and passion—and it reflects the way we approach life on the farm. Our Christian faith is the root of everything we do, and Scripture reminds us time and time again to “take heart” and trust in the Lord.

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24

“Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said, ‘your faith has healed you.’ And the woman was healed at that moment.” Matthew 9:22

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

These promises give us courage on hard days and joy on good ones. The heart in Heartstead Farms represents the love, strength, and faith behind everything we grow and share.

Stead

The word stead means place—a home, a foundation, a refuge.

To us, it symbolizes our land, our family roots, and our commitment to living a life of purpose. It also echoes the word steadfast, one of our favorite values. To be steadfast is to be unwavering—firm in purpose, faithful in direction.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

“Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!” Psalm 119:5

At Heartstead Farms, we want to live and grow with steadfast love and intention.

Farms

This part is simple—but so full of meaning. Our farm is a place of work, wonder, and welcome. It’s where we grow seasonal vegetables, chase grandkids through garden rows, and sit on the porch as the sun goes down.

It represents our lifestyle, our mindset, and the wholesomeness of the things grown here.
